Dress Requirements
At the Australian Club, our dress code reflects the timeless elegance and traditions of the Clubhouse while ensuring a welcoming and respectful environment for all Members and their guests.
General Guidelines
Throughout the Club's principal areas, gentlemen are kindly requested to wear a jacket and tie. Ladies are asked to wear attire of an equivalent business or formal standard. Appropriate attire includes tailored dresses, skirts, trousers or pant suits worn with a blouse, knit or jacket, as well as other refined business or formal ensembles. Footwear should be smart and appropriate to the occasion, such as dress shoes, heels or elegant flats.
Casual Attire
To preserve the traditional character of the Club, casual attire is not appropriate within the principal areas. This includes denim, shorts, leggings worn as outerwear, T-shirts, athletic or leisure wear, casual sandals, thongs, sneakers, and clothing that is excessively revealing or distressed. Please see below for guidelines for accommodation guests.
Private Events
Dress requirements for private events are at the discretion of the host, who may specify the appropriate level of attire for their occasion.
Accommodation Guests
Accommodation guests are welcome to dress in accordance with their planned activities during their stay. Those departing for or returning from leisure, sporting, or recreational pursuits may wear appropriate casual clothing. When dressed in casual attire, guests are kindly asked to use the Little Collins Street entrance as a courtesy to Members and visitors in the main Club areas.
Breakfast
For breakfast served within the Club, a smart casual standard of dress is accepted, providing a relaxed yet polished atmosphere at the start of the day. We ask that clothing remains neat, tidy, and appropriate to the Club setting. Smart casual attire may include tailored trousers, skirts, dresses, collared shirts, blouses, knitwear and smart footwear.
Should you have any questions regarding appropriate attire, our Reception team will be pleased to assist. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping preserve the traditions and ambience of the Australian Club.
